What happened to DJ Moore? Bills HC Joe Brady gives minimal injury update after 41-31 Lions win

DJ Moore suffered a shoulder injury during the Buffalo Bills‘ 41-31 win over the Detroit Lions, with head coach Joe Brady unable to provide any further update after the game.

Moore went down late in the second quarter while attempting to catch a Josh Allen pass in the back of the end zone. He got up under his own power before heading to the locker room for further evaluation and X-rays.

The Bills quickly ruled the wide receiver out for the remainder of the contest, leaving his status as one of the few negatives from an otherwise memorable night at the new Highmark Stadium.

Brady spoke to reporters after the win but had little new information to share, confirming only that Moore had suffered a shoulder injury and would not return.

Injuries can take time to fully assess, meaning Moore’s status could become clearer over the coming days. He did not record a catch before leaving the game.

The timing is particularly frustrating for Buffalo after Moore made an impressive start to life with the Bills in Week 1. He caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans.

Buffalo acquired Moore from the Chicago Bears this offseason in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, with his previous connection to Brady in Carolina playing a role in the move.

Brady worked with Moore when he was the Panthers‘ offensive coordinator and explained in March why he remained excited about the receiver’s potential.

“You try not to go into it and be like, ‘Hey, I remember what the player was and let’s just do it.’ It’s natural in football,” Brady said. “Five years is a long time. But the player that I turned on the tape wasn’t any different in terms of the way that he moved, the skill set, the opportunity, the big plays, using him in a bunch of different ways.”

For now, Bills fans will have to wait for further medical updates before knowing how long Moore could be sidelined.
