Taraba council chairman orders strict staff attendance, warns against absenteeism

The Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Moses Maihankali, has directed staff of the council to observe strict punctuality and regular attendance, warning that the principle of “No Work, No Pay” would be enforced.

Maihankali gave the directive on Monday, during an inspection tour of departments at the local government secretariat, accompanied by the 10 ward councillors and departmental directors.

During the inspection, the chairman reportedly observed that some staff were absent from their offices and directed Departmental Supervising Officers, DSOs, to closely monitor attendance and submit regular records through their respective directors.

He urged workers to demonstrate greater commitment to their duties, particularly following the approval by governor Agbu Kefas for the payment of five months’ salary arrears owed local government workers.

“Government’s efforts to settle the outstanding salaries should be reciprocated through punctuality, dedication and improved productivity by council employees,” the chairman said.
