Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger) is back from the dead in Yellowjackets season 4.
The lone adult survivor of the plane crash was killed in Yellowjackets season 3, episode 6, with teenage Natalie Scattorio (Sophie Thatcher) killing him out of mercy. This came after Coach Ben had his leg cut off, watched the teens descend into cannibalism, was blamed for the cabin burning down, nearly executed by firing squad, and then held captive and force-fed to keep him alive. His fate is one of the many dark outcomes in the wilderness that the survivors have kept hidden.
Paramount+ has now released an official trailer for Yellowjackets season 4 that shows Coach Ben appearing after his death, as Natalie sees him in a bathroom mirror, only for him to disappear when she turns around. As the teens are welcomed back home, with a statue of deceased team captain Jackie Taylor (Ella Purnell) now in front of the high school, Shauna Shipman (Sophie Nélisse) lashes out at her mother, Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) pushes someone underneath the water, Taissa Turner (Jasmin Savoy) and Van Palmer (Liv Hewson) kiss, and Taissa delivers a speech. Check out the trailer below:
There are also glimpses of the final days in the wilderness, including the survivors looking up at a helicopter flying overhead. As for the 2020s timeline, Melissa (Hilary Swank) goes on camera with her wife Alex (Jaylee Hamidi), while an interviewer asks if Melissa is ready to share any of her experiences from the wilderness, and Callie Sadecki (Sarah Desjardins) demands her mother, Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), to tell the truth.
Coach Ben’s appearance comes after teenage Misty Quigley (Samantha Hanratty) says, “People think that we’re crazy.” This suggests that his return from the dead is Natalie having a hallucination out of guilt for what she did to him, unless there is something with the potential supernatural forces of the wilderness at play.
One of the biggest Yellowjackets mysteries heading into the fourth and final season is whether the wilderness has any real supernatural power, including the meaning of the symbol that the characters have been seeing since season 1. The show also has to reveal the exact fates of researcher Hannah Finch (Ashley Sutton) and the other teen survivors alive at the end of season 3 who do not make it back to civilization along with the likes of Shauna and Misty.

There were originally plans for Yellowjackets to be five seasons, but creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson decided to end with season 4 instead, feeling that this was what best served the story. This means that the show was not canceled and is concluding because of a creative decision.
Along with the aforementioned characters, Yellowjackets season 4 features Akilah (Nia Sondaya), teenage Melissa (Jenna Burgess), teenage Travis Martinez (Kevin Alves), adult Taissa (Tawny Cypress), adult Misty (Christina Ricci), adult Jeff Sadecki (Warren Kole), and Walter Tattersall (Elijah Wood), along with Molly Ringwald, Sam Braun, June Squibb, Ken Marino, Dulé Hill, Devon Sawa and Eric Stoltz joining the cast.
Yellowjackets season 4 premieres on November 20 on Paramount+.
