New York Yankees star Cam Schlittler is a great pitcher. He also happens to enjoy trolling fans. With the Yankees preparing to play the Tampa Bay Rays on the road, Schlittler took an opportunity to troll Rays fans while speaking to reporters, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
“I wouldn’t say there’s really too much of an away crowd here,” Schlittler said. “I expect there to be a lot of Yankees fans. In some ways, you are, to an extent, kind of playing at home. I feel like the guys are excited to have that atmosphere here.”
Schlittler called out Rays fans for not consistently being at Tropicana Field to support their team. The Yankees star even said that playing in Tampa Bay feels similar to playing at home.

While Schlittler’s take may seem harsh, and he is seemingly attempting to troll the fans in Tampa Bay, his take is difficult to refute when it comes to average attendance. According to ESPN, the Rays averaged just 17,468 fans per game this season, which ranked 28th in the league. The Yankees, meanwhile, were second with an average turnout of 41,739 fans.
Fans in Tampa Bay can silence Schlittler by attending the games in Tampa Bay in droves and being loud. Of course, the real way to silence the Yankees pitcher will be for the Rays to win the series and advance to the ALCS. Winning is the best revenge. Tampa Bay players will surely hear what Schlittler had to say, which will only give them more motivation.
