NEW CONCORD — Will this be a turning point for Mount Union’s football team?
The 2026 Purple Raiders looked like the Purple Raiders of old in a 65-7 rout of host Muskingum on Oct. 3. After a rare slow start to the season, Mount Union rolled up a school-record 786 yards to even its record at 2-2.
“We had a great week of practice coming off the bye week,” Purple Raiders quarterback Mikey Maloney said. “After a couple of tough first weeks, we wanted to bounce back and really get a good win that feels good for us. I think we did a lot of really good things today, but we also have a lot to clean up.”

Maloney threw for 350 yards and touchdown passes to Mason Ashby, O.P. Knox and Pavel Henderson. Ashby finished with nine catches for 112 yards.
Mount Union’s running game also was a force. Bo Bokman rushed for 137 on 13 carries and three touchdowns. Kayden Minner ran for 113 yards on 13 carries and two TDs. Jordan Johnson also scored a touchdown.
The Purple Raiders led 45-0 at halftime.
