Kano is expected to witness two separate royal processions on Sunday, September 27, 2026, as the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, is scheduled to hold the Hawan Babban Daki, while the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, is expected to attend the Hawan Fatahu Yakasai on the same day.
According to the announcement, Sanusi II will lead his procession from his palace, Gidan Tunda, through Kofar Kwaru and Mandawari before heading towards Galadanci in the evening.
Meanwhile, Aminu Ado Bayero is expected to leave his palace for his residence in Mandawari. Later in the evening, his procession will pass through Kofar Kwaru to Unguwar Yakasai to attend a Qur’anic graduation ceremony.
The announced routes for both events include Mandawari and Kofar Kwaru, attracting attention because the two processions are scheduled to take place on the same day and around the same time.

The two royal fathers have been at loggerheads since Emir Sanusi II was reinstalled by the current administration, which was then elected on the platform of the New Nigerian Peoples Party. Bayero, who is allegedly backed by the Federal Government, has been claiming the throne and resides at Nassarawa Palace.
