Removed From 750 Theaters, 'Street Fighter' Officially Passes Final Box-Office Milestone

Only a few weeks have passed since the critical and commercial success of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil, but a new video game adaptation appears to have taken little advantage of the serendipitous lead-in. The new movie could have ridden on the coattails of Resident Evil, which has defied the odds to gross $400 million worldwide, while also delivering the best reviews of any video game adaptation in history. Resident Evil appears to have settled at a “Certified Fresh” 96% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, and is now available to rent and purchase on the PVOD market following its record-breaking box-office success. However, the more recent video game adaptation has yet to hit the coveted $100 million mark at the worldwide box office, even though it cost more than Resident Evil.
