The San Francisco 49ers have the day off on Tuesday, but they usually have a group of players in for workouts or tryouts. According to Aaron Wilson, the Niners worked out defensive tackle Dominic Bailey.
We’ll have the full list of players the 49ers worked out around 2 pm PT when the NFL’s transaction wire is released.
The 49ers lost defensive tackle Naquan Jones from the practice squad. The only other defensive tackle remaining is McKinnley Jackson. So, perhaps the team is looking for another big body like Jones. CJ West is still on the injured reserve. Maybe this is the team saying West is still a week or more away from returning by working out Bailey.
But Bailey isn’t the same body type as a traditional nose tackle, like Jones and West. The sixth-year senior out of Tennessee is listed at 6’3″, 270 pounds. He went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. Bailey started all 12 games for the Vols.
Per Sumer Sports, Bailey played 109 snaps in the preseason for the Houston Texans at defensive tackle. He had five solo tackles and three pressures. He has not played a regular-season snap.
Kyle’s update, 1:45 pm PT: The 49ers announced they have signed Robert Beal Jr. to the practice squad. Beal, who spent his first four years with the Niners, was released by the Dolphins on October 30. He appeared in two games this season with the Dolphins, where he played a total of 34 snaps
