Odell Beckham raves about potential Giants reunion as another workout nears

UPDATE: The Giants on Monday will work out wide receivers. And Odell Beckham will participate in that workout, according to Jordan Schultz. it will be Beckham’s second workout with the Giants this offseason.

Odell Beckham would love to finish his career with the Giants.

He had already made that clear before Saturday.

But on Saturday, at Giants edge rusher Brian Burns’ charity softball game, Beckham — who is no longer an elite wide receiver — emphasized the point again.

Here’s what he told one of the Giants’ in-house video hosts: “It’s a place I never wanted to leave. It’s a special place in my heart, to see all these Big Blue jerseys. Just hoping for the best. I left some things unfinished.”

Beckham’s response to anyone who questions whether he can still thrive in the NFL?

“I guess we going to find out soon,” he said.

The John Harbaugh-led Giants already hosted Beckham for a workout, but have yet to sign him.

They traded him to the Browns after the 2018 season, but that was back when general manager Dave Gettleman was running the show, which feels like a lifetime ago.

Even though the Giants’ current top two receivers — Malik Nabers (torn ACL) and Darius Slayton (core muscle surgery) — are sidelined right now, neither is expected to miss a significant portion of the season.

At one point Saturday, Beckham chatted with Nabers and Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart. The trio shared friendly words and smiles. Dart also embraced Beckham. Will they soon be teammates?

At this point in his career, Beckham obviously is no longer a No. 1 receiver option. But he could provide depth — maybe.

Harbaugh, who has final say on personnel, remains open to a reunion with Beckham, even though the 33-year-old receiver is a shell of his former self. Harbaugh and Beckham remain friendly from the receiver’s brief time with the coach in Baltimore.

Beckham opened his career as a star in East Rutherford. But he hasn’t had a highly productive season since 2019 with the Browns (1,035 yards and four touchdowns).

With Harbaugh in Baltimore in 2023, Beckham had 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns. He was out of the league last year, partly because of a six-game suspension (performance-enhancing drugs).

Of course, he began his career as a dynamic player with the Giants from 2014-18, after they drafted him 12th overall.

His Giants numbers remain impressive — 390 catches, 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns.
