NOUN bursar shot dead while returning from Gusau

The university described the deceased as a dedicated and committed staff member who served the institution meritoriously and occupied various positions of responsibility during his career.

Marafa Served As Bursar From 2022

According to the university, Marafa was appointed Bursar in September 2022, a position he assumed with a strong sense of duty and commitment to the advancement of the institution.

NOUN said his death represented a significant loss to the university community, describing him as a distinguished colleague, dedicated administrator and valued member of the NOUN family.

“His sudden demise is a profound loss to the University community. The entire University community mourns the passing of a distinguished colleague, dedicated administrator and valued member of the NOUN family,” the statement added.

The university extended its condolences to his immediate family, relatives, friends, colleagues and others mourning his death.

It also prayed for strength for the bereaved family and the wider university community.

“We pray that the Almighty Allah grants the family and the entire University community the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the university said.

Janaza Prayer Scheduled For Monday

The university announced that the Janaza prayer for the late Bursar would be held at the NOUN Jumaat Mosque in Abuja at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026.

Marafa’s death comes as the university community mourns the loss of an administrator who had served in a key financial management position since his appointment as Bursar in 2022.
