Kwara Poly expels 42 students over examination malpractice

The Institute of Technology followed with eight students, while the Institute of Information and Communication Technology had four affected students. Two students from the Institute of Health Technology were also expelled.

The Institute of General Studies recorded one expulsion, while four students from the Centre for Continuing Education were included in the disciplinary action.

The affected students were enrolled in several programmes, including Mechatronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Strategic Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, and Accountancy.

Other programmes represented among the expelled students include Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Medical Imaging Technology, Microfinance and Entrepreneurship Development, Social Development, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and Industrial and Labour Relations, among others.

The polytechnic also ordered the expelled students to surrender any property belonging to the institution that remained in their possession.

Esin said such items must be handed over to the students’ respective Heads of Department or other officials designated by the institution.

The management said the expulsions followed the completion of the examination malpractice investigations and the subsequent approval of the disciplinary recommendations by the appropriate authorities.
