Fantasy Football Stock Report: Chargers' offense looks lost while Panthers' unit continues to thrive going into Week 3

A week after going berserk with three touchdowns in his Texans debut, David Montgomery totaled 10 rushing yards on six carries and finished Week 2 with 3.4 fantasy points. And while the Bengals’ defense looks much improved, there’s very little excuse or silver lining in 1.7 yards per carry amid a blowout loss. Worst of all, Woody Marks actually outcarried Montgomery eight to six … though he was, incredibly, even less efficient, with just eight yards on those eight carries.

Unfortunately, the reality with Montgomery is that he’ll probably mix-and-match these types of outings all year. When he finds the end zone, he’ll be a strong RB2. When he doesn’t, and particularly when the Texans fall behind, he’ll likely have a series of fantasy duds. Montgomery thrived with his particular skill set when playing for the Lions’ high-scoring, ever-in-the-red-zone offense. The Texans are not that. And it’s going to reflect poorly in the running back’s box score throughout the year.
