One of the more important pickups for the Buffalo Bills in the offseason has been that of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who joined the team on a one-year deal worth $3.5 million.

The pick-up allows the Bills to bolster their defense, especially at safety, after that part of the field lost a crucial player in Taylor Rapp in the offseason. Gardner-Johnson also brings immense experience to Buffalo, having won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024 and having over seven years in the league.

The former Champion is making his way to the AFC East off a season split between the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears, one that saw him record 66 combined tackles, two interceptions, and four defended passes.

With the 28-year-old reporting to the Bills’ training camp, all appeared to be well until he was carted off the field during Saturday’s session, with the initial prognosis being that of a calf strain.

While he was taken off the field on Saturday, it didn’t take long for the Bills defender to take to his livestream to open up about the scare, stating that he’s in good spirits and mainly just wants to get back out on the practice field.

“We’re good, shout out to the docs, everybody that was a part of the team that officially helped me stay uplifted, uprooted for this…” stated Gardner-Johnson. “I’ll still be practicing, I’m still gonna be trying to practice, I ain’t gonna lie.

While there isn’t further information about the severity of Gardner-Johnson’s injury, given that the Bills’ regular season is still more than a month away, there lies a solid chunk of time for the former champion to heal and get ready for the campaign to come.
