Now halfway through the second round, the scenarios for group stage qualification for many of these World Cup groups are starting to become more clear, and attention is starting to turn towards who qualified teams might face in the Round of 32.

Here’s your daily recap and upcoming matches for today.

Goals: Brobbey (5′, 17′), Gakpo (47′, 54′), Summerville (89′) | Elanga (59′)

That’s a paddlin’. Sorry, Lucas.
vs. Cote d’Ivoire (Group E)

Goals: Undav (60′, 90+4′) | Kessié (30′)

A fun match for the neutrals, but maybe not so much if you like rooting for the underdog. Kessie put the Elephants in front but Undav scored two second half goals including the winner at the death to put Germany top of Group E.
vs. Curaçao (Group E)

Curacao, who got hammered by Germany, will be thrilled with this result. Ecuador, whom many considered a dark horse to make a deep run in this World Cup, will be devastated. Curacao keeper Eloy Room tied Tim Howard‘s World Cup record with 15 saves in this scoreless draw — an incredible individual performance. Neither of these teams are eliminated… yet… but Ecuador are now on the ropes, and have to get a result against Germany to have any chance to escape the group. Curacao face Cote d’Ivoire.
vs. Japan (Group F)

Goals: Kamada (4′), Ueda (31′, 83′), J. Ito (69′ – nice)

Looks like if you’re Tunisia sacking the manager doesn’t work out so well when the team still sucks.
