Former Georgia Bulldogs national champion quarterback Stetson Bennett is competing with former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson to be the Los Angeles Rams’ second-string quarterback behind Matthew Stafford. Bennett will see some action this preseason and is expected to play in the Rams’ preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bennett needs a strong preseason in order to hold off Simpson, a first-round 2026 NFL draft pick. Last season, Bennett was the Rams’ No. 3 quarterback behind Stafford and NFL veteran Jimmy Garoppolo. As the Rams’ No. 3 quarterback, Bennett started a pair of preseason games in Week 1 and Week 2 in 2025. He’s not expected to play as much this preseason, but the Rams are going to want to feel confident in the backup quarterback, so it will be interesting to watch.
