Warriors' Kristaps Porzingis breaks silence on his health issues

The Golden State Warriors have ruled Kristaps Porzingis out indefinitely due to an undisclosed health issue. The team announced it in a statement posted to social media on Wednesday, October 14. Porzingis has been absent from the franchise’s preseason preparations, including its ongoing training camp.

Shortly after the Warriors’ statement was released, Porzingis took to social media to share a message with his fans. He said he’s working with medical professionals to get back to health as quickly as possible, though he noted he will need to be patient during his recovery.

“Hello people, I’m working with doctors and experts to figure out how to be fully back to good health asap. Honestly, I’m getting better and better. I just have to stay patient, and I believe I’ll be feeling great again soon,” Porzingis wrote on X. “It has definitely been frustrating dealing with some health stuff that you can’t exactly pinpoint, on top of injuries throughout my career, so it has added up for sure, but we will get through it. Health is wealth. Thank you for all the support.”

Porzingis then followed up in the comments, jokingly thanking the ‘internet doctors’ for their ideas on how he can get back to health, before reiterating that he’s in the best possible hands.

I appreciate all the internet doctors trying to diagnose and help, but I’m in the best hands. So everyone can relax now 😄🙏🏼 and I don’t have hiv or aids.

Golden State acquired Porzingis ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline. They sent Johnathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks in return for Porzingis. He went on to play in 15 regular-season games for Golden State, averaging 16.1 points, 2.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds, shooting 31.1% from the 3-point range and 51.9% from the 2-point range.

The Warriors inked Porzingis to a two-year, $40 million contract extension earlier this summer, with the second year being a player option. Neither Kuminga nor Hield are still with the Hawks, having both moved on during the offseason.
