The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report of the week on Wednesday in advance of their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers.

There are 24 players listed.

24!

Not all of them are on the 53-man roster, which is really a 52-man roster since Lane Johnson will count against the team’s limit all season, but that’s still insane.

Let’s sort through it all.

The Eagles listed six players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE:Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Drew Kendall, Jalyx Hunt, Michael Carter II, and Will Shipley.

Earlier this week, there was a report that Barkley and Smith “have a shot” to return against the Panthers. Both of them missing Wednesday’s practice isn’t an encouraging start in that regard.

With Barkley hurt, Tank Bigsby on injured reserve, and Shipley also banged up, the Eagles are tracking to be without their top three running backs on Sunday. They currently have two healthy backfield options on the roster: Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele. They also have Jaydon Blue on the practice squad … and they’re reportedly going to sign Ja’Quinden Jackson, though that move has yet to become official.

Smitty is now listed with “hamstring/toe” injuries after previously just being listed with a hamstring injury. Seems like he’s in jeopardy of missing his third straight game.

Kendall is “week-to-week,” according to a report from NJ.com’s Cayden Steele. Steele noted that Kendall was walking gingerly in the locker room with a big sleeve on his leg. With Kendall expected to miss a second straight game, the Eagles could once again go with Jake Majors at center. Unless they move Willie Lampkin to the pivot if Landon Dickerson comes back at left guard? Or go with Dickerson at center and Lampkin at guard, which seems less likely?

Vic Fangio said “it’ll be pretty miraculous” for Hunt to play this week. But it sounds like Hunt will avoid going on injured reserve, which is good. Still, the Eagles are going to be without their leader in quarterback hits this season.

MC2 got hurt in Week 5 and it looks like he’ll be out this week after previously filling in for Marcus Epps as a starting safety in nickel packages.

The Eagles listed 11 players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION:Landon Dickerson, Tyler Steen, Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise Brown, Jonathan Greenard, Marcus Epps, Grant Calcaterra, Eli Stowers, Jakorian Bennett, A.J. Epenesa, and E.J. Jenkins.

The Eagles opened 21-day practice windows for Dickerson, Calcaterra, Stowers, and Bennett earlier on Wednesday.

Dickerson wouldn’t say if he’s ready to play on Sunday. It doesn’t seem like the Eagles should be rushing him back since, by Dickerson’s own admission, he played pretty poorly in Week 1. One must also wonder to what degree he might be physically diminished at this point in his injury-riddled career. The Eagles have until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday to activate Dickerson (or not) from injured reserve in order to play on Sunday. So, we’ll see.

Steen got banged up in Week 5 but was able to return to the game. Guessing the Eagles are managing his practice workload to help get him to Sunday.

Wicks suffered a hamstring injury in practice last week but played through it. Guessing he’ll do the same in Week 6.

Brown participated in practice for the first time since missing the Eagles’ last three games. Seems like he might be able to suit up on Sunday. One would expect his role to be minor since he wasn’t playing much when healthy earlier this season.

Greenard was able to practice for the first time since getting hurt in Week 4. With Hunt out and the Eagles’ pass rush off to a slow start, getting him back would be ideal.

Epps might be able to play after missing multiple games. The Eagles could use him back with Carter II likely unable to play.

The Eagles should be in no rush to activate Calcaterra when they already have three tight ends on the roster and Zach Ertz on the practice squad. But they seem to like him more than their fans do.

Stowers practiced for the first time since the lead up to Week 1. There’s really no room for him on the roster as a depth tight end who doesn’t really help on special teams. They could and should be slow-playing any potential return here.

The Eagles aren’t necessarily hurting for cornerback depth but they could eventually look to activate Bennett if they prefer him over Jonathan Jones and/or Mac McWilliams.

Epenesa being limited with a back injury isn’t really ideal when the Eagles are already missing Hunt and Greenard is also banged up. Nolan Smith is the only Eagles edge rusher who is not listed on the injury report.

Jenkins was added to the report on Friday last week as a full participant with a toe injury. The depth tight end was limited on Wednesday.

The Eagles listed seven players under FULL PARTICIPATION:Jalen Hurts, Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Andrew Mukuba, Jihaad Campbell, Arnold Ebiketie, and Fred Johnson.

Speaking during his post-practice press conference on Wednesday, Hurts revealed that he got “nicked up” in Week 4. He wasn’t added to the report until Friday of last week, however, as a full participant with a calf injury. Hurts will play but it’s notable that his rushing production has really taken a dip. He tied a career-low in carries with just two in Week 5.

Carter continues to be listed on the injury report with the hairline fracture in his wrist. But he was wearing a less restrictive wrap in Week 5, so, he seems to be getting healthier. Which is a big deal for this defense!

Baun is now listed with a shoulder injury after previously being listed with a concussion over the past two weeks.

Mukuba is also listed with a shoulder.

Campbell is listed with knee/wrist injuries. He is expected to lose playing time as he takes part in an off-ball linebacker rotation with Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Ebiketie is listed with a shoulder injury. Again, Nolan Smith is the only edge rusher on the Eagles’ roster who is not on the injury report.

Fred Johnson is listed with a knee injury.

The Panthers, who are coming off a Week 5 bye, did not actually practice on Wednesday. Their report is an estimation.

Two players were listed under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: rookie right tackle Monroe Freeling and veteran running back AJ Dillon.

Freeling, selected one pick before the Eagles chose Makai Lemon in the 2026 NFL Draft, has been starting at right tackle in place of Taylor Moton. Moton began the regular season on the reserve/non-football injury due to being diagnosed with blood clots after coughing up blood in June. With the Panthers recently opening Moton’s 21-day practice window to return from NFI, it seems like he might be able to return to the field on Sunday.

Dillon, who unsuccessfully tried to revive the Eagles’ 2025 season with a “positivity rabbit,” has logged just 34 offensive snaps through four games. His 17 carries have resulted in 43 yards for a 2.5 average. Safe to say the Panthers won’t be missing his impact if he can’t play. That said, he is one of only two running backs on their active roster … behind Chuba Hubbard. The Panthers did open Trevor Etienne’s practice window to return from IR on Tuesday and they also have Anthony Tyus III on their practice squad.

The Panthers listed four players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: starting edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, starting left guard Damien Lewis, tight end Tommy Tremble, and tight end Darren Waller.

Phillips, who was a trade deadline acquisition by the Eagles last year, ranks second on the Panthers in sacks with two. The Panthers are likely managing his workload to help get him to Sunday.

Lewis missed the Panthers’ last game due to an elbow injury but it sounds like he could return to action this weekend.

Tremble leads all Panthers tight ends in snaps played but ranks second at his position in targets. He’s behind Waller, who has the third-most receiving yards for Carolina this season. Seems like both players might be able to suit up.

The Panthers listed six players under FULL PARTICIPATION: starting quarterback Bryce Young, starting right tackle Taylor Moton, starting defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, starting wide receiver Jalen Coker, running back Trevor Etienne, and depth edge rusher Thomas Incoom.

Young popped up on the report earlier this season with a knee injury but it hasn’t caused him to miss time in games or practices.

As previously noted, Moton has a chance to return from the NFI list and start at right tackle for the Panthers.

Wharton’s practice window to return from the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list was opened on Tuesday. His return figures to give the Panthers’ interior defensive line a run-stopping boost.

Coker missed Week 4 due to injury but it looks like he’ll return to action this weekend. He ranks second on the Panthers in targets, receptions, and receiving yards.

Etienne’s practice window to return from IR was opened on Tuesday. He could get back on the field to give the Panthers some much-needed running back depth in addition to returning punts/kicks.
