Prediction: Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig

In what is a heavyweight Bundesliga showdown on Saturday evening, Bayern Munich will welcome RB Leipzig to the Allianz.

Ahead of a stacked weekend schedule from across the continent, there are plenty of eye-catching betting promotions available.

Verdict: Castello Lukeba over 0.5 fouls

Bayern Munich

Starting with the hosts, left hugely frustrated earlier in the week as they were eventually forced to settle for a remarkable 3-3 Champions League stalemate away at Norwegian outfit Viking, Bayern Munich have endured a downbeat return from September’s international break. Marking their return from the extended interval with a 2-2 draw against Augsburg, Vincent Kompany’s defending Bundesliga champions will be looking to make a public statement on Saturday evening. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat in bronze medal position, Bayern will be hoping to skyrocket their way back to top spot with a flurry at the Allianz. Heading into September’s break with a dominant 7-0 romp against Union Berlin, Saturday’s hosts hold a fearsome reputation for their clinical displays in the final third. In fact, Kompany’s superstar squad have notched 16 goals in their first five Bundesliga battles.

While French international Michael Olise might have been shown a Champions League red card away at Viking earlier in the week, the former Crystal Palace star is free to feature here. However, once again missing out on Tuesday with a reported muscle issue, Kompany’s side are sweating over the fitness of German playmaker Jamal Musiala.

Bagging a European brace on foreign soil in midweek and widely regarded as the standout Ballon d’Or contender this year, England skipper Harry Kane will spearhead Bayern’s charge. Settling for a spot on the bench in Norway, veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer should return between the sticks on Saturday evening.

RB Leipzig

As for the visitors, while RB Leipzig might have entered September’s international break with a downbeat 2-0 loss against Bayer Leverkusen, Martin Demichelis’ side have come roaring back in some style. Putting a maiden Champions League victory on the board in midweek as they snatched a 1-0 victory at home against Dutch outfit PSV, the one-time Manchester City defender has now seen his squad win three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. However, despite marking their return from September’s extended interval with a sensational 6-0 romp against Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig have shown some rather glaring issues on their travels. In fact, opening their European adventure with a 4-1 drumming away at Como last month, Demichelis’ men have lost all of their last three straight showdowns away from the Red Bull Arena by an aggregate score of 9-2.

Yet to make a maiden appearance this season, RB Leipzig will once again be without the services of Austrian international Christoph Baumgartner here. Likewise, new recruit and former Chelsea misfit Marc Guiu is recovering from a hamstring injury and isn’t expected to play any part on Saturday evening.

Left as an unused substitute against PSV on Tuesday night, Belgium international Johan Bakayoko could make a first appearance since September 5th. Notching five direct goal contributions in as many Bundesliga appearances so far this season (four goals, one assist), summer arrival Christopher Nkunku could play a leading role in the final third.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Key Factors to Consider

  • When Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig last met back in February, Kompany’s side claimed a 2-0 DFP Pokal victory at the Allianz.
  • Bayern Munich have notched 16 goals in their opening five Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
  • Including their Champions League success against PSV in midweek, RB Leipzig have notched three wins in their previous four appearances across all formats.
  • However, Leipzig have lost all of their previous three straight showdowns away from the Red Bull Arena by an aggregate score of 9-2.
  • England skipper Harry Kane has registered 19 direct goal contributions for club and country so far this season.

Looking to register a first victory since returning from September’s extended international break, Bayern Munich will know the importance of making a public statement here. Holding a fearsome reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, Kompany’s side will meet a Leipzig squad who have shown some rather glaring issues on the road. With the Red Bulls losing each of their previous three consecutive showdowns on their travels by an aggregate score of 9-2, the reigning Bundesliga champions will be excited to make a return to Munich on Saturday evening.
