Brazil were shockingly defeated 2-1 by Norway to bow out of the World Cup on Sunday evening.

In a game that lacked control and a finishing touch from Brazil, the five-time champions’ ambition of adding a sixth was put down by Erling Haaland‘s brace, before Neymar Jr scored a consolation penalty kick in the last minutes of the game.

Norway played good football against Brazil, and were able to control the game for large stretches. Despite Brazil’s higher xG count (most of which would be the two penalties they got), they only had a couple of big chances in the game.

One was Vinicius Jr’s brilliantly threaded trivela pass to Endrick, whose second touch fumbled the chance of him scoring before Norway opened the scoring.

Soon after that, Erling Haaland scored two brilliant goals within 11 minutes of each other to put all of Brazil’s hopes to rest.

Vinicius Jr created two chances and completed six dribbles. He took just two shots all game, which was surprising — one of which was a pretty big chance.

Endrick, on the other hand, only came on in the second half, and was not able to put the ball in the net, despite having a brilliant opportunity to do so.

Norway will now play one of Mexico and England in the next round, while both of these Real Madrid players will come back to train under Jose Mourinho a bit earlier than they would have wanted.
