The 28-year-old Japanese right-hander became the only MLB pitcher since pitch tracking began in 1988 to record a postseason road start with at least seven innings pitched, 10 or more strikeouts, no more than one walk and fewer than 100 pitches.
Yamamoto accomplished the feat while helping the Dodgers secure a 3-1 victory over the Braves in Game 3 of the National League Division Series. The win gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series and moved the team within one victory of advancing.

Yamamoto was in control throughout his seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out a postseason career-high 10 batters. He also issued only one walk and stayed under the 100-pitch mark.
The performance added another impressive chapter to Yamamoto’s growing postseason résumé. The 2025 World Series MVP has allowed more than one run in just two of his last 10 postseason appearances and has not surrendered more than three runs during that stretch.
His consistency has also been evident during the regular season. In 28 games this year, Yamamoto posted a 14-9 record with a 2.53 ERA and a remarkable 0.87 WHIP, establishing himself as one of the Dodgers’ most reliable starters.
With Yamamoto leading the way, Los Angeles is now just one victory away from reaching the National League Championship Series for a third consecutive season.
The Dodgers will have a chance to eliminate Atlanta in Game 4 on Wednesday in Atlanta. A win would send Los Angeles through to the NLCS, while a Braves victory would force a decisive Game 5 on Friday in Los Angeles.
After another historic outing from Yamamoto, the Dodgers are in a strong position to keep their postseason run moving forward.
