AUBURN — With its season just months away, Auburn basketball is apparently making a late roster addition thanks to a recent court ruling.
Utah State guard Kolby King — a fifth-year who was granted an additional year of eligibility due to a lawsuit in Ohio — announced his commitment to the program on his personal Instagram account on Thursday, Aug. 13, making Auburn his fifth school in as many seasons.
King was among one of at least 15 plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed in June, which led to a preliminary injunction granting eligibility for the 2026-27 season. Prior to Auburn, King spent his senior year with Utah State. He began his career at St. John’s, and he spilt his following two seasons between Tulane and Butler, respectively.
As a depth piece for the Aggies, King played in 36 games but he never made a start. He did average 19.2 minutes off the bench, and he also averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting a career-high 47.7% from the floor. He also 39.3% from 3-point range.
That’s now nine additions to Auburn’s roster as the program heads into its second season under head coach Steven Pearl. The program returned Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton, as well as Simon Walker and Blake Muschalek, but it added five transfers and made three signings; one from the high-school ranks and two international.
