Revised Jaguars 53-man roster prediction after takeaways from minicamp

With the Jacksonville Jaguars’ three mandatory minicamp practices behind us, let’s put together a 53-man roster prediction factoring in what we’ve learned.

While what takes place during minicamp isn’t the be-all and end-all, these practices do provide us with some insight into where things stand on the depth chart, which players stand out, and the foundation heading into training camp in late July is established.

That said, training camp will carry far more weight when it comes to these final roster decisions. But for now, here is our best guess on where things stand with the 53-man roster.

From the sounds of it, Mullens was up and down, but his experience can be valuable as the backup quarterback.

The real question here is whether or not someone emerges and forces the Jaguars to roster four running backs, which they often did last year.

Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, Josh Cameron, CJ Williams

Late Day 3 draft picks are never quite roster locks, but Cameron and Williams were among the standout performers this past week.

Brenton Strange, Quintin Morris, Nate Boerkircher, Tanner Koziol

Both Boerkircher and Koziol look like they could carve out significant roles right away. The Jaguars believe that Boerkircher brings a well-rounded skill set to the position, while Koziol is more of a pass-catching threat.

Cole Van Lanen, Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainsey, Patrick Mekari, Anton Harrison, Walker Little, Wyatt Milum, Jonah Monheim, Chuma Edoga, Emmanuel Pregnon

With no roster turnover up front, I decided not to make any cuts and went heavy along the offensive line, keeping 10 on the roster with the addition of Pregnon.

Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker, Wesley Williams, Zach Durfee, Danny Striggow, Arik Armstead, DaVon Hamilton, Ruke Orhorhoro, Albert Regis

To make the roster math work, I had to make some difficult decisions here. I went with five defensive ends instead of six — Dennis Gardeck can also rush the passer, providing more depth. It’s too early to tell where things stand between Striggow and BJ Green, but I went with Striggow since he saw more defensive snaps last season. I also went light at tackle, letting go of Matt Dickerson, operating under the assumption that the Jaguars can get him back on the practice squad.

Foye Oluokun, Dennis Gardeck, Ventrell Miller, Branson Combs, Jalen McLeod, Jack Kiser

Compared to my pre-minicamp roster prediction, I added Combs and removed Parker Hughes. Liam Coen spoke very highly of Combs’ performance.

Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Jarrian Jones, Christian Braswell, Jabbar Muhammad

The reason I had to make some difficult decisions along the defensive front is that I had to find a way to fit Muhammad on the roster, who has put together a strong showing throughout the offseason.

Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransaw, Rayuan Lane, Jalen Huskey

The Jaguars’ safety depth is quite strong. And when it comes to putting together an early roster prediction, this position group seems to be pretty straightforward.
