Liverpool have no plans to reverse the decision to let Mohamed Salah leave this summer, despite change in head coach at Anfield.

Salah announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign, following nine decorated seasons with the club. Though the Egyptian is contacted until 2027, a mutual decision was made to allow Salah to pursue a new challenge as a free agent.

Salah’s exit comes following a downturn in performances in 2025/26, in addition to a strained relationship with former Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

However, the decision to sack Slot and appoint Andoni Iraola has led to suggestions a U-turn on Salah’s future could take place.

This week, Egypt teammate Ahmed El-Shenawy suggested that “things could change”.

El-Shenawy told ON Time Sports: “The prospect of leaving Liverpool has affected Mo psychologically, but the situation might change and he could still stay with the team,

“He even told me that he doesn’t know anything about his future yet.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs has shut down those suggestions and has said Liverpool have ‘no plans’ to keep Salah next season.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and Turkish Süper Lig side Fenerbahce. New Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildrim claimed he could bring Salah to the club, while director of football Ertan Torunogullari said ‘positive talks’ have been held with Salah’s camp.
