Real Madrid remain the world’s most valuable football brand, now worth €2.4 billion

Real Madrid have retained their position as the world’s most valuable football club brand, with the club’s brand value rising 25% to €2.4 billion, according to Brand Finance’s Football 50 2026 report.

It is the third consecutive year Real Madrid have finished first in the ranking, while the Spanish giants were also rated as the strongest football brand in the world for a third straight year.

Brand Finance gave Real Madrid a Brand Strength Index score of 95.8 out of 100 — the highest score among the 281 clubs analyzed for the report.

The consultancy attributed Madrid’s position to a combination of their global reputation, fanbase, ability to attract star players, history and prestige, as well as their association with elite-level football.

The €2.4 billion valuation represents a significant jump from last year, with Real Madrid’s brand value increasing by 25% in 2026.

Barcelona remain Madrid’s closest competitor in the ranking. Their brand value increased 15% to just under €2 billion, leaving Spain’s two biggest clubs comfortably at the top of the global football landscape.

“The continued dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona highlights the extraordinary strength of the two most recognized football club brands in the world,” Pilar Alonso Ulloa, Brand Finance’s Managing Director for Iberia and South America, said.

Alonso Ulloa pointed to the clubs’ global recognition, ability to attract stars and capacity to turn their popularity into commercial value as major reasons why competitors have struggled to close the gap.

“Real Madrid has reached a brand value of €2.4 billion, and Barcelona is approaching €2 billion,” Alonso Ulloa said. “They are the two most valuable and strongest football club brands in the world.”

The scale of Madrid’s valuation is particularly notable in a year of substantial growth across the industry. Brand Finance estimates that the combined brand value of the world’s 50 most valuable football clubs has reached €23.9 billion, representing the largest annual increase in the 15-year history of its Football 50 ranking.

The top end of the sport is also becoming increasingly concentrated. The 10 most valuable club brands are now worth a combined €14.9 billion, accounting for more than 60% of the total value of the Football 50. Since 2012, the combined brand value of the top 10 has increased by 250%.

Madrid sit at the head of that group despite significant movement immediately below them.

Arsenal climbed five positions into third after their brand value increased 28% to €1.5 billion, while Bayern Munich moved into fourth at €1.5 billion. Paris Saint-Germain remained fifth, followed by Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United. Chelsea stayed ninth, with Borussia Dortmund returning to the top 10 for the first time in a decade.

Within Spain, Atlético Madrid moved up to 11th globally following a 22% increase in brand value. Real Betis climbed five places to 33rd, while Athletic Club, Villarreal and Real Sociedad also made the global top 50.

The separation between Real Madrid and the rest of Spanish football remains considerable. Brand Finance noted that the next-strongest Spanish club brand outside Madrid and Barcelona trails the two giants by more than 10 points on its Brand Strength Index.

For Real Madrid, the report provides another indication of the club’s commercial position beyond its results on the pitch. Brand Finance defines brand value as the net economic benefit a brand owner would achieve by licensing its brand on the open market, rather than as a valuation of the club itself.

By that measure, Madrid have not only retained the No. 1 position but widened the financial scale of their brand, reaching €2.4 billion after a 25% year-over-year increase.

Three consecutive years at the top of both Brand Finance’s value and strength rankings underline the extent to which Real Madrid’s sporting identity and commercial reach remain intertwined. In an industry where the biggest clubs are growing faster and taking an increasingly large share of global football’s brand value, Madrid continue to sit at the top.
