Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh announced that the team will open the 21-day practice windows for second-year offensive lineman Branson Taylor and fullback/defensive lineman Scott Matlock, making both players eligible for activation from injured reserve.
Taylor, a 2025 sixth-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh, stood out during training camp before suffering an upper-body injury in the second week of the preseason. Before his injury, he was a strong contender for the starting left guard spot. He also displayed versatility, logging snaps at tackle.
Matlock was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Boise State. Primarily utilized as a fullback and blocking tight end, Matlock also has experience along the defensive line. He was sidelined at the end of the preseason with an undisclosed injury that required a walking boot.
Los Angeles can add them to the active roster at any point during this three-week period. If either player is not activated by the end of the window, they will revert to season-ending injured reserve.
