The New England Patriots enter Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season looking to bounce back after a tough road loss in a Super Bowl rematch against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Patriots appear to be getting a big shot in the arm in the backfield following that 13-10 defeat to Drew Lock and company, with running back TreVeyon Henderson seemingly on track to make his 2026 season debut in this coming Sunday’s showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which will also be New England’s first game of the campaign at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
“Their reinforcements are coming, as one of the Patriots’ most dynamic players, TreVeyon Henderson, proclaimed himself good to go yesterday talking to ESPN reporter Mike Reese, saying essentially that we are gonna see him on Sunday,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said on Friday.
“Now, TreVeyon Henderson did not play in Week 1, was nursing an ankle injury did not practice that week. It was just too quick for him to get out there. The fact that he is gonna be out on the field We too is excellent news for this New England Patriots backfield. That is now a two-headed monster along with Rhamondre Stevenson.”

Patriots Running Back Henderson Will Give His Team a Big Boost on the Ground in Week 2

The former Ohio State Buckeyes star running back missed several weeks of practice in the offseason and ultimately failed to be active for the Seahawks game due to an ankle injury.
But Henderson has now logged back-to-back full practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, strongly indicating that he will suit up and be there on the field, as the reigning AFC champions look to avoid falling in a 0-2 hole to start the season.
New England only got 51 rushing yards and no touchdowns on 18 carries from Stevenson, so the presence of a healthy Henderson will give the Pats hope for a much more productive outing on the ground against Pittsburgh.
In his rookie season in the NFL in 2025, Henderson gathered 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 180 carries.
