Matthew Judon will make his debut with the 49ers in Week 4

The San Francisco 49ers promoted defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez from the practice squad. After a valiant effort against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3, the Niners announced that they waived edge rusher Viliami Fehoko Jr.

Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is choosing someone he has experience with at the position. Edge rusher Matthew Judon was elevated from the practice squad. Romello Height and Keion White were limited in practice on Friday.

With Nick Bosa ruled out, the 49ers are likely confident that either one or both Height and Weight will suit up in Week 4. The other options are Khalid Kareem and Ogbo Okoronkwo.

The other practice squad move was to elevate Malik Turner from the practice squad. Mike Evans is officially questionable. He told the media on Friday that he planned to play through his rib injury. Kyle Shanahan said Evans would be a game-time decision.

Brock Purdy’s five wide receivers against the Broncos will be Evans, Deebo Samuel, Jacob Cowing, Brandin Cooks, and Jordan Watkins. It’s unlikely that Turner will play a role offensively, but he’ll play on every special teams coverage unit.
