Iran won’t negotiate with US until conditions are met – Security Chief

Iran will not resume negotiations with the United States until Tehran’s conditions are met, a senior Iranian security official, Mohsen Rezaei, has said.

Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, made the position known on Tuesday in a post on X while responding to remarks by US President Donald Trump a day earlier.

Trump had said Tehran was eager to reach an agreement quickly and badly and indicated that Washington could restart negotiations with Iran.

“The failing Nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and badly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Reacting to the statement, Rezaei warned Iranians against being distracted by what he described as Trump’s contradictory messages about negotiations.

He pointed to Trump’s shifting position, which he said had moved from no negotiations to an apparent willingness to return to talks.

“The stakes around oil and the straits have changed. Damage control won’t stop what’s coming,” Rezaei said.

He added, “No talks until Iran’s conditions are met. Period!”
