Lewis Hall says it was “a no-brainer” to sign a new long-term contract with Newcastle United, despite attracting interest from Manchester United throughout the summer.
Earlier this month, Hall ended speculation over his immediate future by penning fresh terms with the Magpies, with his new deal reportedly running until 2031.
Having joined his boyhood club from Chelsea in 2023, Hall has made 109 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions, with 82 of those being starts.
He helped Newcastle end their 70-year domestic trophy drought by winning the EFL Cup in 2025, though a foot injury caused him to miss their victory over Liverpool in the final.
Hall has also started 2026-27 strongly under new boss Mathias Jaissle, providing two assists in all competitions and scoring his first goal of the campaign in Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Hull City.
Asked by Chronicle Live if he ever felt like he had a difficult decision to make amid loud transfer speculation, Hall said: “No, honestly, it didn’t.
“I guess whenever you’re linked to another team, you know that you’re doing something right. It’s a credit to your own performances and how you are as a player, and how you are as a person.
“I took that as a positive, but at the same time, I love playing here and since the manager came in, I knew the ambitions and what we wanted to achieve.
“After not many conversations, not many training sessions, I knew that the manager was going to be really good for this club.
“I knew that as a team, bringing in new players and improving the squad was really important and as soon as we did that, it was a no-brainer to sign.”

Hall was recently recalled to the England squad by Thomas Tuchel ahead of Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia (home and away) and Croatia, having missed out on the Three Lions’ group for the World Cup.
And looking long-term, Hall believes being at St James’ Park allows him to fulfil his ambitions, saying: “When you’re with a team, you don’t think too far into the future.
“Obviously, I’m really grateful for the contract that I’ve received and the trust that I’ve been given from the board and from the manager.
“I’m just taking it game by game, just trying to do the best I can for this club. We’ve got ambitions and as long as we achieve what we want to achieve, I’m sure I’ll be here for a long time.”
With eight points on the board from five Premier League games, Newcastle face Coventry City in their first game after the international break, on October 12.
