Greenland University, Jalingo, Taraba State, has invited applications from qualified candidates for senior leadership positions.

The vacancies cover principal officer roles and key director posts.

Available Positions at Greenland University

The Governing Council seeks candidates for the following posts:

  • Vice Chancellor
  • Registrar
  • Bursar
  • University Librarian
  • Director of Works and Physical Planning
  • Director of Academic Planning
  • Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

General Requirements for All Positions

All applicants must show strong capacity across key areas linked to university leadership and management.

Greenland University expects candidates to have sound digital skills, knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, awareness of AI ethics, and a clear understanding of how AI affects higher education administration and academic work.

Applicants must also understand Environmental, Social and Governance principles.

The university also wants candidates with strong financial knowledge and a proven record of attracting funding or research grants; this requirement cuts across the advertised positions because the council expects senior officers to support growth, not just routine office work.

Candidates must show the ability to work with the host community in Jalingo and beyond.

Greenland University also expects applicants to support its “Knowledge for Self-Reliance” motto by helping students and staff turn knowledge into lasting economic and social value.

Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor will serve as the Chief Executive, Academic and Accounting Officer of the university.

The person appointed will chair the Senate and Congregation, and will also serve as a member of the Governing Council.

Requirements for Vice Chancellor

Applicants for the post of Vice Chancellor must meet the following conditions:

Registrar

The Registrar will serve as a Principal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the university.

The officer will report to the Vice Chancellor and handle day-to-day administration, except financial matters.

Requirements for Registrar

  • Good honours degree with at least Second Class Lower Division
  • At least 10 years of post-qualification administrative experience in a university

The Bursar will serve as a Principal Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the university.

The role covers the day-to-day financial administration of the university.

Requirements for Bursar

University Librarian

The University Librarian will serve as a Principal Officer responsible for the administration of the University Library.

This role needs a candidate with academic library experience and sound knowledge of library and information services.

Requirements for University Librarian

  • Ph.D. or strong master’s degree in Library and Information Science
  • At least 10 years of cognate experience

Director of Works and Physical Planning

The Director of Works and Physical Planning will handle duties tied to works, buildings and physical planning.

Applicants need the right academic background, professional registration and long post-qualification experience.

Requirements for Director of Works and Physical Planning

Director of Academic Planning

The Director of Academic Planning will support academic planning functions at the university.

The post requires a senior academic with a strong record of research and relevant experience.

Requirements for Director of Academic Planning

  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline
  • Rank of at least Reader or Professor
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • At least 200 citations in peer-reviewed publications

Director of ICT

The Director of Information and Communication Technology will handle ICT-related functions at Greenland University.

The role suits applicants with practical experience in computing, information technology, software engineering or a related field.

Requirements for Director of ICT

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field
  • At least 10 years of practical experience
  • Ph.D. as an added advantage

Conditions of Service

The Vice Chancellor and other Principal Officers will serve a single tenure of five years.

Greenland University states that remuneration is consolidated and highly competitive, in line with standards in the Nigerian university system.

Method of Application

Candidates must submit their application and CV to recruitment@glu.edu.ng or through the university portal.

Each application must include a “Statement of Vision” of not more than 1,000 words. The statement should cover strategies for digital change, ESG and community engagement.

Application Deadline

Applications must reach the Selection Committee not later than four weeks from the date of this publication.
