Implemented by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with support from the Government of Japan, the programme offers training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and international exposure to participants across selected African countries.

About the Programme
The UNITAR Empowering Youth and Women Programme aims to strengthen leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation capacity among young professionals and women across Africa. Through a structured learning experience, participants will develop practical solutions that address social and economic challenges while building projects that are ready for partnerships and investment.
The programme is delivered in multiple phases between August 2026 and March 2027, combining virtual learning, project development, mentorship, and engagement with experts from both Africa and Japan.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should:
- Be between 18 and 35 years of age.
- Be a citizen of an eligible Anglophone Sub-Saharan African country.
- Be an entrepreneur, innovator, researcher, professional, SME founder, or social entrepreneur.
- Have an innovative idea or project with the potential to create economic or social impact.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to community development.
