Fiorentina has submitted a formal offer worth roughly 13 million euros for Palmeiras left-back Arthur, a 20-year-old academy product who has forced his way into the Brazilian club’s starting lineup this season.
According to Lance and Nosso Palestra, Fiorentina’s proposal is worth 78 million Brazilian reais, and Palmeiras is now evaluating the bid rather than rejecting it outright.
That alone signals how seriously the Serie A club is being taken. Palmeiras has prioritized squad retention heading into the rest of the 2026 season, with president and coaching staff wary of losing defensive depth while veteran left-back Jefte continues his recovery from injury, a gap that pushed Arthur into first-team minutes in the first place.
Arthur broke into Palmeiras’ senior side as backup to Joaquin Piquerez, then took the starting job after injuries to both Piquerez and Jefte opened the position. He has made 26 appearances in official competition this season, a heavy workload for a player who only recently graduated from the club’s academy. Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira addressed the interest directly, saying the club is “not waiting to lose players fundamental to our objectives,” a clear signal that Palmeiras intends to resist a sale rather than negotiate a quick exit.
Fiorentina is not the only European club watching Arthur. Reports out of Brazil describe additional interest from clubs in England and Greece, though neither has escalated to a formal bid the way Fiorentina’s has. For Fiorentina, a 13 million euro move for a 20-year-old Brazilian left-back with regular first-team experience fits a recruitment approach built around signing South American talent before it becomes unaffordable, rather than competing for players who already have several European suitors driving up the price.
Palmeiras’ response will likely hinge on Jefte’s recovery timeline.
If the veteran is closer to returning than currently expected, Palmeiras may be more willing to let Arthur leave for a fee it considers strong for a player with just over a season of first-team football behind him. Until then, Palmeiras has given no indication it plans to accept Fiorentina’s offer as it stands, leaving the Italian club to decide whether to return with an improved bid.
