FCC pledges to support ABU Zaria ahead of 2028 NUGA games

She also lauded the Federal Government’s designation of ABU as one of Nigeria’s national sports centres of excellence, a status accompanied by strategic plans to upgrade and modernise the university’s sporting infrastructure.

The FCC boss characterised both milestones as critical strategic opportunities designed to elevate elite student-athlete development, discover untapped grassroots talent, promote national unity, and stimulate the sports economy within the Nigerian university system.

Alumna Pride and Commitment to National Development

Speaking on her personal connection to the institution, Ms Omidiran expressed pride in being an alumna of ABU, attributing her career trajectory and leadership values to the foundational training she received at the university.

“The university shaped my character, broadened my perspective, and prepared me for the responsibilities of leadership and national service. I will always cherish the institution and remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote education, national development, and youth empowerment.”

Concluding the session, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed, expressed gratitude to the commission leadership for its receptive gesture, noting that administrative preparations and stakeholder engagements are actively underway to ensure a successful 2028 games.
