In the directive issued to all Deans, Heads of Department (HoDs), and the general student body, the university outlined activities categorised as prohibited wild jubilation, which included:
- Vehicular Displays: Vehicle, motorcycle, or bicycle parades and motorcades, particularly within the Administrative Building vicinity.
- Public Nuisance & Conduct: Pouring water, sand, or drinks; public alcohol consumption; excessive shouting, hooting, and dancing.
- Unhealthy Practices: Any disruptive gatherings or actions deemed capable of escalating into illegal behaviour or criminal activity.
“Anybody caught embarking on the above unnecessary and unwholesome practice within and outside the university premises would be sanctioned according to the enabling laws of the university, and that may include the cancellation of such examination(s),” the Registrar warned in the pre-examination notice.
Cancellation of MCB 414 and Management Deterrent Warning
Despite explicit administrative warnings delivered to the Department of Microbiology students immediately before sitting their paper – MCB 414: Anti-Microbial Agents and Chemotherapy- the students engaged in widespread sign-out festivities immediately upon completing the examination.
Reacting to the direct breach of Senate policy, university management officially voided the examination results for the entire class.
“Accordingly, the University Management has decided that the examination be cancelled,” the Registrar confirmed in the subsequent release.

University authorities reiterated that the cancellation is designed to serve as a strict deterrent to the wider campus community, warning that stiffer administrative penalties, including potential academic deferrals, will be applied to any other department that flouts the sign-out ban during the ongoing examination cycle.
Students were advised to defer all graduation festivities until the university’s official convocation ceremony.
