Dayton basketball: Flyers will play Patriot League opponent in December

Jun. 5—The Dayton Flyers men’s basketball team will play Loyola University Maryland on Dec. 2 at UD Arena, according to a report on Friday, June 5, by college basketball analyst Rocco Miller.

The Flyers lead the series against Loyola 3-0. The programs last played on Dec. 22, 2007. Dayton won 91-74 at UD Arena. The first two games in the series took place in 1950 and 1951.

Loyola finished 12-20 last season and 8-10 in the Patriot League. It has suffered 13 straight losing seasons.

Loyola last played in the NCAA tournament in 2012 when it lost 79-58 to Ohio State in its first game.

Dayton last played a Patriot League opponent in December 2024, beating Lehigh 86-62 at UD Arena. It has won seven straight games against the league since a loss to Fordham, which was then in the Patriot League, in 1991.

This is the sixth known date on Dayton’s schedule. The other games that have been announced are:

Oct. 17: Exhibition vs. Notre Dame at UD Arena.

Nov. 2: vs. New Jersey Institute of Technology at UD Arena.

Nov. 14: vs. Cincinnati at UD Arena.

Nov. 29: vs. Memphis in Chicago.

Dec. 12: vs. South Florida at UD Arena.

Dayton will also play road games at Liberty and Florida State and two games at the Charleston Classic. The dates of those games have not been announced.
