Commanders have not distanced themselves from Brandon Aiyuk

Of course, we don’t want to write about Aiyuk. Of course, we are tired of his self-absorbed act. This guy is so high-maintenance. Can Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels stand up to him? That’s what it is going to take. Aiyuk has exhibited countless times that he is draining on those around him.

All of this time for the last months, all the videos, the tweets, the posts on Instagram shout out, “Look at me. I demand your attention.” The surprising thing for me is how, with every opportunity the Commanders have had the last two months to distance themselves from the clown that is Brandon Aiyuk, they have chosen NOT to distance themselves from Aiyuk.

That disappoints me. If the Commanders were truly not interested in Aiyuk, why haven’t they taken a simple moment to leak it out or announce it during one of their OTAs or mandatory minicamp workouts? You know they are being contacted by NFL Network reporters, by ESPN NFL reporters.

How in the world could Dan Quinn, Adam Peters, or Jayden Daniels think Aiyuk coming to Ashburn won’t be disruptive? Daniels is young, so perhaps he still wants him, because, as with most things in life, it takes younger people time to learn the leopard doesn’t change its spots. But what excuse do Peters and or Quinn have?

They sent Jahan Dotson on his way for pouting and bad body language. What in the world do they foresee Brandon Aiyuk bringing to the locker room, meeting rooms, and practice fields in Ashburn?

If the Commanders sign Brandon Aiyuk following his inevitable release by the 49ers, why would any of the players or assistant coaches buy into Dan Quinn’s talks on “The standard” or “Doing hard s–t with good people?”
