Clemson transfer pitcher announces new team, joins another Tiger transfer

A former clemson-tigers/3407/">Clemsonbaseball pitcher is headed to the Big 12 for the next chapter of his college career.

After entering the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week, Talan Bell revealed on Friday that he has committed to UCF. The move allows the Florida native to return closer to home while continuing his development on the mound. Bell will arrive in Orlando with two years of eligibility still available.

Bell’s time at Clemson never quite unfolded the way many expected. A highly regarded recruit coming out of high school, he battled injuries during his career with the Tigers and spent much of the past two seasons trying to regain consistency. Clemson coaches hoped he could become a major part of the pitching staff this spring, particularly as a weekend starter, but he was unable to lock down that role.

The left-hander opened the season in the rotation before eventually transitioning into relief work. Across 13 appearances, he finished with a 7.82 ERA while striking out 23 batters in 25.1 innings. He also made eight starts during the 2025 campaign, posting a 5.56 ERA with 22 strikeouts over 22.2 innings.

Bell’s athleticism also earned him opportunities away from the mound. He appeared in the outfield at times this season and recorded two hits in 10 at-bats, including a home run.

Coming out of Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida, Bell was viewed as one of the nation’s top pitching prospects and arrived at Clemson with significant expectations. While injuries and inconsistency prevented him from fully reaching that potential in orange and purple, he now gets a fresh start with a UCF program looking to add experienced talent.

Bell is also not the only former Tiger making the move to Orlando. Former Clemson slugger Collin Priest has also committed to UCF after entering the transfer portal, giving the Knights a pair of former Clemson additions as they continue building their roster for next season.
