Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney shares injury updates on star WR

One of Clemsonfootball’s biggest offensive weapons is continuing to work his way back toward full participation.

T.J. Moore was again kept out of live action during Thursday’s scrimmage at Memorial Stadium, but there does not appear to be much concern surrounding the junior wide receiver. Dabo Swinney indicated that Moore is already taking part in practice work and is getting closer to being completely cleared.

“He’s close,” Swinney said. “He’s working and practicing too. He didn’t go live today, but he’s doing fine.”

Clemson has little reason to rush Moore in the middle of August. The Tigers still have more than two weeks before traveling to Baton Rouge for their Sept. 5 season opener against LSU, and having him ready for that matchup is far more important than getting him snaps in a preseason scrimmage.

Moore has already established himself as a major piece of Clemson’s passing game. After a productive freshman year, he took another step in 2025 and finished as the Tigers’ leading receiver with 837 yards on 52 catches. He also scored four touchdowns while starting every game.

His production through two seasons has placed him in rare company at Clemson. Moore has surpassed 650 receiving yards in both years of his college career, something previously accomplished by only Sammy Watkins, Artavis Scott and Justyn Ross.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver now owns 97 career receptions, 1,488 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

If Moore continues progressing as expected, Clemson should have its standout receiver available when the Tigers open the year in Death Valley against LSU. Moore and Bryant Wesco are expected to give Clemson one of the ACC’s most talented starting combinations on the outside.
