Billy Bob Thornton is setting sail for a new three-part historical series landing next month.
Though the actor first made his mark in Hollywood with movies like Sling Blade (1996) and A Simple Plan (1998), earning Oscar nominations for both performances, in recent years, he has become better known for television, starring in Fargo season 1 (2014) and scoring an Emmy nomination. Since 2024, he has taken center stage as the lead star of Taylor Sheridan’s hit Paramount+ drama, Landman.
Now, according to Deadline, the actor will be hosting a three-part docudrama for Fox Nation, titled Billy Bob Thornton Presents: The Mayflower, which will premiere on November 23, three days before Thanksgiving. The series will explore the “complex” history behind the Mayflower voyage, the First Thanksgiving, and the pivotal events that helped shape the nation.
The series will chart the Pilgrims’ treacherous journey across the Atlantic, the “fragile” alliance between English settlers and the Wampanoag people, and the “devastating” conflict that reshaped British colonies and laid the early groundwork for an American identity.
