Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake - How To Get Ice Arrows

One of the best aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is Link’s ability to wield both physical weaponry and magic. Din’s Fire can burn pretty much everything around you (and solve some useful flame-based puzzles), and, predictably, Fire Arrows can do the same.

But if you want the coveted Ice Arrows, you’ll need to do a bit of legwork first. While Light Arrows are given to you automatically and Fire Arrows are earned through a simple puzzle, you need to get Ice Arrows through a mid-game dungeon. Here’s how to find them, and get one step closer to picking up every item in the game.

Head To Gerudo Town

Later in the game, once you have access to the longshot (the upgraded Hookshot) or Epona, you can soar over the bridge leading to Gerudo Town.

Once there, you’ll need to complete a short stealth questline, sneaking around Gerudo Town to eventually earn the right to be there. Once you’re granted a pass, you can walk around freely and take on several side quests, including the horseback bow-and-arrow course and the Proving Grounds, where the Ice Arrow reward lies.

When entering Gerudo Town, the Proving Grounds are directly on the right. Go up the first stairwell, hang right, and continue down the mountainous path until you find a Gerudo standing in front of a gate, incredulously exclaiming: “A challenger?”

Speak to them to enter the Proving Grounds, an optional dungeon that rewards you with Ice Arrows at the end. You’ll need to spend 30 Rupees to go back in if you leave or fail, but the entire dungeon saves its puzzle completion state if you leave.

Complete The Gerudo Proving Grounds

Before you enter, you should know a few things about the Gerudo Proving Grounds. You’ll want these specific items before you tackle it in earnest:

Bringing the Lens of Truth to the Proving Grounds is a great idea, since several dungeon elements involve false walls.

When entering the Gerudo Proving Grounds, you’ll have three choices: a door on your left, a door in front of you, and a door on your right. We suggest going through the door on the left, and essentially completing the dungeon room by room.

Once you have at least seven small keys, retrace your steps through the left side of the Proving Grounds and return to the main entrance. Go through the door in front of you, and follow the path on your left, unlocking doors along the way. That will bring you to the Ice Arrow large chest.

A path to the right of the entrance also leads to the small key door room, but you’ll need two extra keys to access it from that route. Avoid going into the central reward room from that direction to save time and effort.

All that to say, once you walk through all five doors in the middle section of the Proving Grounds, you’ll pick up the Ice Arrow ability in the Ocarina of Time remake. Open the chest, and the reward is yours.
