Zay Flowers' status for Brazil is in doubt after another missed practice

Zay Flowers’ availability for the Baltimore Ravens’ game against the Dallas Cowboys is becoming a bigger concern.

Flowers, who missed Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury, was not on the field with his teammates during the media viewing portion of Thursday’s practice. He did an individual cardio workout with trainers beforehand, then briefly spoke with coach Jesse Minter outside before jogging back into the team facility, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley and the Baltimore Sun’s Josh Tolentino.

Left tackle Ronnie Stanley, who is dealing with a toe injury, also was not spotted at the start of practice. Both Flowers and Stanley were listed as not practicing Wednesday. Thursday’s official participation designations have not yet been released. Flowers has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Brazil, but another day away from team drills would leave little practice time before the trip. His absence would be significant for an offense that was explosive with him on the field in its opener: Baltimore scored four touchdowns on five drives with Flowers against Indianapolis, compared with three touchdowns on 16 drives without him, according to the team.

Rashod Bateman and the rest of Baltimore’s receivers would again have to absorb more work if Flowers cannot play. For now, Friday’s practice and the Ravens‘ final injury report will offer the clearest indication of whether their top receiver can return against Dallas.
