Dark Souls Trilogy Officially Returns In Pricey New Collection

From the very first game with its rough-around-the-edges roots to the masterpiece that is the third game, the original Dark Souls trilogy has stood the test of time, cementing itself as one of the greatest in gaming history and proving that its core formula, which has since inspired an entire sub-genre, is utterly timeless. Naturally, as a direct consequence of this success and critical acclaim, the series has continued to garner new fans, which has facilitated the endless need for re-releases, associated merchandise, and assorted spin-offs.

Dark Souls is, at this point, a brand; its myriad figures, posters, statues, comics, books, and more showcase a marketable success that has become an identity. It is no surprise that this kind of merchandise and the numerous collections launching alongside them continue to be pushed out into the wild en masse. Of course, it is a boon for fans, ones who are determined to adorn their shelves with as much new Dark Souls merchandise as possible. Well, those fans will want this brand-new Dark Souls trilogy collection as it looks set to be a pricey, yet incredible new experience.

There have been numerous inventive re-releases of the original trilogy over the years, from an official Dark Souls manga to grimoires explaining the game’s complex lore. Joining this pantheon of supplementary material is a brand-new collection that fans will undoubtedly want to add to their ever-growing shrine to the trilogy. Bandai Namco has released vinyls for each of the game’s soundtracks that can be purchased as a complete bundle for those who wish to listen to every single one.

Every song from all three games and their respective DLC has been made available across nine vinyls. The first game has two long-play vinyls, the second four, and the third three, each of which is double-sided. Each game’s vinyl discs come in their own unique sleeve featuring their original box art and are printed in differing, bold colors. The first game’s discs are blue, the second red, and the third yellow.

While not quite the remastered Dark Souls collection that some fans may have hoped for, it is still great to have all three games’ official soundtracks printed on vinyl for fans to enjoy. Of course, the only caveat is that this collection is rather pricey. It costs roughly $120, although it is currently only available via Bandai Namco’s EU store, which doesn’t ship to North America. Additionally, as this specific version of the Dark Souls trilogy vinyl collection is a Bandai Namco store exclusive, it seems unlikely it’ll be reproduced outside of the EU.

Each vinyl can be bought separately if you have a favorite soundtrack you want specifically. They all cost £34.99, even the first game’s soundtrack, which comes with two fewer vinyls than the second. This works out to roughly $46.85 per soundtrack. There have been other variants of this collection, although these have sold out globally and can only be bought on the secondhand market. However, it does mean that it is likely Bandai Namco will re-release another set of vinyls for the Dark Souls trilogy soundtrack in the future that may be made available in the US.
