Youths in Idjerhe community in Delta State have recovered an abandoned locally made firearm from the village.
The President, Idjerhe Youths Council, Desmond Emoefe Agbigbe announced the recovery in a statement he posted in his Facebook page.
The statement was signed by Kingsley Ikewun, Sec.11 Idjerhe youth Council. He said the recovery was done in an ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the Kingdom.
According to Agbigbe,”The recovery forms part of the Youth Council’s commitment to supporting peace, security, and the protection of lives and property across Idjerhe Kingdom.’
Agbigbe called on youths across the kingdom to shun violence, unlawful activities, and the possession of illegal firearms.
He warned anyone in possession of unlawful weapons to surrender them to the appropriate security authorities in the interest of public safety and peaceful coexistence.
Agbigbe also extended an olive branch to members of various confraternities who are genuinely willing to renounce violence, abandon unlawful activities, and work collaboratively with the Youth Council to promote peace and development in Idjerhe Kingdom.
He encouraged such individuals to visit the Youth President’s Secretariat for constructive engagement, assuring them of an opportunity for peaceful dialogue.
Furthermore, the Youth President called on all stakeholders, community leaders, and youths to remain committed to the collective responsibility of restoring peace, unity, and the lost glory of Idjerhe Kingdom.
He emphasised that achieving a safer and more prosperous kingdom requires the cooperation, vigilance, and support of everyone.
He reaffirmed his resolve to discharge the responsibilities entrusted to him and urged all well-meaning sons and daughters of Idjerhe Kingdom to support the ongoing efforts toward lasting peace and security.
