The Yobe State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with separate cases of theft, assault, and criminal conspiracy. It has also recovered some stolen property.
This was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.
According to the statement, on 2 August 2026 at about 3:30 p.m., a case of theft and causing hurt was reported at ‘A’ Division, Damaturu, where preliminary investigation revealed that a 35-year-old suspect allegedly stole a goat at the Sunday Market, Damaturu.
“While attempting to escape, an 80-year-old accomplice allegedly assaulted the complainant with a stick, inflicting injuries to the rear of his head.
“Police operatives swiftly responded, arrested both suspects, and recovered the stolen goat and the stick used in the assault as exhibits.
“Investigation into the matter is ongoing,” the statement added.
In a separate incident, the command noted that on 1 August 2026 at about 11:00 a.m., a complaint of criminal conspiracy and theft involving building materials valued at approximately ₦2.5 million was reported to the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
“Acting on credible information, operatives launched an intensive investigation, which led to the recovery of building materials worth approximately ₦1.5 million.
“The operation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects found in possession of the stolen property after allegedly receiving and dealing in the items.
“The recovered materials have been secured as exhibits, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining items,” it said.
The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has directed that investigations into both cases be concluded diligently and that all those found culpable be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
