‘Why Are You All Quiet?’ — Podcaster Slams Female Reporters’ Silence on Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel Scandal

Ever since the Dianna Russini entanglement with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel surfaced earlier this offseason, a consistent group of vocal journalists has demanded answers. Other NFL journalists have seemingly turned the other cheek.

Now another NFL podcaster is bringing attention to the situation, asking why a certain section of reporters is staying silent.

One NFL reporter who’s been very outspoken all along is Crissy Froyd, who doesn’t seem to be backing down any time soon.

Another is Nikki Gist of the “Nikki Knows” podcast. She’s asking why “female reporters” are staying quiet on the Russini front.

“To all the female reporters staying [expletive] quiet,” Gist said. “Why is that? Why are you all quiet? ‘Oh, it’s none of my business. She’s a great reporter.’ Is she? Is she a great reporter? Does she do her job with integrity and ethics? No, clearly not. So how can you say she’s a great reporter?”

Gist goes on to suggest that if she were able to get someone from The Athletic on her podcast, she’d hit them with a series of tough questions. But she concedes that no one from the popular sports publication would join her, knowing what they’re in for.

“A journalist works for the public,” Gist added. “We work for you. Our job is to hold companies, public figures, individuals accountable. You keep them honest. Which is why I get [expletive] off when I hear stupid [expletive] questions being asked in press conferences.

“Come on, you work for the public, ask the [expletive] question. If I had anyone from The Athletic on this show, I’d hit them with a million [expletive] hard questions. I would just ask ’em, and watch them squirm. But they would never come on a show like this. They’ll never talk to anybody. If they do, it will be in a highly controlled environment where they can control the narrative.”

‘Why Are You All Quiet?’ —

Like many others, Gist is continuing to seek information in the Russini-Vrabel scandal.

While Russini’s former employer is conducting an internal investigation into her actions, their findings can’t arrive soon enough. Until they do, reporters like Gist will continue digging deeper, hoping to uncover the smoking gun.

Others, like Aaron Rodgers, have suggested Russini’s methods may have involved tampering. Clearly, that’s an issue that people will want to look into, and they’re taking their time to make sure they don’t miss anything.
