Where's Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Rank Among NFL's Most Dangerous Playmakers?

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the NFL’s premier playmakers in CeeDee Lamb, and a recent PFF study only reinforced that reality.

When examining the league’s most explosive players over the last five seasons, Lamb ranked among the NFL’s elite, highlighting the big-play ability that has made him the focal point of Dallas’ offense.

“Although the last two years haven’t been Lamb’s best — he’s dropped 19 passes in that span — he’s still been one of football’s premier wideouts because of his explosiveness,” Bradley Locker writes. “Over the last five campaigns, Lamb’s 175 catches of at least 15 yards trail only Jefferson.”

For those unfamiliar with the term, an explosive play is generally considered a gain of at least 20 yards on a pass play or 10-plus yards on a run. These are the types of plays that can instantly change a game, flipping field position, creating scoring opportunities and forcing defenses to account for a player’s ability to strike at any moment.

That has been one of Lamb’s biggest strengths since arriving in Dallas.

Selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Lamb has steadily developed into one of the league’s most complete receivers. While some wideouts rely primarily on deep passes to create explosive gains, Lamb has found success in a variety of ways. He can beat defenders downfield, create separation with precise route running and turn short catches into long gains thanks to his elusiveness and vision after the catch.

Those traits have helped him become one of the NFL’s most productive offensive weapons over the past five seasons. Regardless of who has lined up across from him, Lamb has consistently produced chunk plays and delivered in critical situations for the Cowboys.

Despite having some injury issues during the 2025 season, Lamb still racked up over 1,000 receiving yards. It was still perhaps his worst season of his career so far, so he will be looking to bounce right back in 2026.

This ranking simply confirms what Cowboys fans have watched for years. When it comes to generating explosive plays and changing games with a single touch, few players have been more dangerous than CeeDee Lamb.
