The national recruiting rankings are finally starting to reflect what Clemson has accomplished over the past few weeks.
After a flood of commitments throughout July and early August, the Tigers have climbed to No. 6 in the latest 247Sports team rankings while moving up to No. 11 in the industry rankings compiled by On3 and Rivals. Just a few weeks ago, Clemson was sitting well outside that range before one of the hottest stretches on the recruiting trail in the country changed the outlook of the class.
The Tigers now hold 19 commitments in the 2027 cycle, with 12 of those prospects joining the class during the last two weeks. That surge has transformed the perception of Clemson’s class nationally and pushed Dabo Swinney’s program into the conversation with many of the traditional recruiting powers.
Monday brought two more additions as tight end Nicholas Pollack and four-star offensive tackle J.J. Brown announced their commitments. Brown became the latest piece of an offensive line group that already includes Luke Starcevic, Carter Jones and Elijah Morrison, while defensive end Desmond Malpress remains one of the class’s marquee names.
The climb up the rankings is significant because it places Clemson in a position few expected earlier this summer. Recruiting classes can change dramatically before signing day, but the Tigers have given themselves a strong foundation with months still remaining in the cycle.
The biggest question now is whether Clemson can avoid the setbacks that affected the 2026 class. Last cycle featured similar optimism before multiple decommitments altered the trajectory of the group. The Tigers eventually signed a solid class, but it looked much different than the one that generated excitement during the summer months.

For now, Clemson’s recruiting momentum is undeniable. The Tigers have assembled one of the largest classes among the nation’s top-ranked programs and continue adding talent at several key positions. If that momentum continues, Clemson may not be finished climbing the rankings before the 2027 cycle is over.
