The Golden State Warriors haven’t done much to convince Stephen Curry that they’ve adopted a win-now approach toward the end of his career.

Striking out on Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and Anthony Davis resulted in a rather unproductive offseason for the Dubs.

While re-signing key veterans such as Draymond Green and Kristaps Porzingis and adding Georges Niang, Brandon Williams, and Yaxel Lendeborg (NBA Draft) to the fold should keep Golden State competitive, it’s challenging to envision that bunch catapulting the franchise into championship contention anytime soon.

Curry, a four-time NBA champion, deserves better after all he’s contributed to the Dubs since his arrival in 2009, prompting All the Smoke’s Stephen Jackson to craft an eye-opening trade proposal that would send him to the San Antonio Spurs for a recent NBA Finals disappointment.

“San Antonio for me,” Jackson said Monday. “You got De’Aaron Fox, they can package one of those, and I ain’t even talking about (Dylan) Harper, or (Stephon) Castle, they got 2 big draft picks this year, so they did well in the draft. So they got the pieces to move for a Steph with De’Aaron Fox; I think that would be great.”

While Jackson’s trade idea would undoubtedly appease the Spurs’ fanbase, it’s safe to assume the hypothetical deal would receive mixed reviews from diehard Warriors supporters.

After all, the two-time All-Star is coming off arguably the worst NBA Finals showing of all time, taking head-scratching shots all series long and giving the New York Knicks a gift during a pivotal Game 4 clash at Madison Square Garden (he attempted a half-hearted layup late in the contest instead of dribbling the ball out and likely getting fouled with a one-point lead).

That said, there’s no denying that Fox is an above-average player who uses his blur-like speed to help San Antonio thrive in the open floor/transition and regularly get two feet in the paint in half-court situations before delivering timely dimes at less than ideal angles.

Simply put, Fox, who averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists with the Spurs last season, would have the potential to be a valuable long-term guard in a rebuilding environment in the Bay, making it logical to picture him swapping places with Curry in a headline-worthy Western Conference trade.
