Tyrese Haliburton injury update: Pacers star out vs Hawks due to ankle; what we know

INDIANAPOLIS — Tyrese Haliburton will not play in the Pacers’ second preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks, head coach Rick Carlisle said pregame.

Carlisle said Haliburton suffered a “mild tweak of the right ankle” in the Pacers’ preseason opener at Iowa State against the Timberwolves. It was Haliburton’s first NBA action in 472 days, as he missed the 2025-26 season after tearing his right Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

Carlisle said Haliburton got an MRI done and “everything looks really good” and there was no issue with his surgically-repaired Achilles.

Carlisle hopes that Haliburton can practice Monday and return to action Tuesday against the Oklahoma Thunder, but he added that if Haliburton is not ready for Tuesday, they’ll get him ready for the Pacers’ final preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 16.
