Transformers Officially Unveils Decepticons Replacement In Eternal War

The central pillar of Transformers as a franchise is the eternal conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons, and the former’s protection of Earth in a universe where enormous, sentient robots are a thing. That also means it’s used as the narrative in many of the adaptations we have seen to date, regardless of the medium.

So any time a new release breaks with that, as the War for Cybertron trilogy did, it immediately stands out as a potentially interesting project. Now, one new release is set to do just that, taking it even further than that to have our usual foes join up to take on and defeat a common enemy.

Transformers: Eternal War is an upcoming idle RPG adventure mobile game that is currently accepting pre-registrations from potential players. Before getting into the mechanics, it’s actually the premise of this one that’s particularly cool from the outset.

Essentially, the Decepticons and Autobots are forced to work together to defeat an apocalyptic army empowered by unstable energy known as the Chaos Legion. They are led by a new character introduced specifically for the game known as Chaos Herald Optimus Prime, all of whome were created by the planet-eating deity known as Unicron.

The developer shared the following description, so fans better know what to expect:

“Autobots and Decepticons stand united against the Chaos Legion! Experience an all-new Transformers Strategy RPG featuring an original story by Simon Furman! The Earth has been consumed by a mysterious force born from pure chaos energy—an unstoppable corruption now spreading toward humanity’s final line of defense. For generations, Autobots and Decepticons have waged an unrelenting war. But in the face of the Chaos Legion—as heroes and villains fight against the chaos—old enmities must be set aside. The fight for Earth is no longer about victory. It is about survival.”

From a gameplay perspective, Eternal War functions as a squad-based gacha RPG, where you will need to assemble a force of five Transformers to be used in real-time tactical battles. Everyone in your roster will have unique skills, abilities, and synergies, and it’s up to the player to find the best combinations during specific encounters.

The game also features a full class system with five different options, and a trait system, all of which need to be combined effectively to ensure your forces are as potent as possible. Outside of that, there are also base building and upgrade mechanics of the same ilk as a game like Clash of Clans, with microtransactions (though it’s worth noting these don’t seem too egregious at the time of writing).

As mentioned earlier, pre-registrations for Transformers: Eternal War are open right now, with a release date currently scheduled for November 12. It is set to be available on Android, iOS, and Windows (via Google Play Games) from that date. There are also plenty of associated rewards for signing up before then, including access to classic characters like Jazz and Bumblebee, as well as exclusive cosmetics and additional resources like currency and items.

Transformers is a multimedia franchise consisting of movies, TV Shows, video games, and comics. The franchise centers on a race of humanoid robots called the autobots who must protect Earth from the Decepticons. Some of the most popular characters include Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee. In 2007, the first live-action movie in the franchise was released starring Shia Labeouf.
